Finding Our Place inHave you met someone new recently? Whenever we are getting to know someone, this line may enter the conversation: "tell me something about yourself." The proper response to this is to tell a story or a series of stories. We want to understand not only who this person is now, but also how he or she came to be so. What are the experiences, ideas, and people that have shaped their lives? Yet, is life just about our personal stories or is there one grand story of which ours is a part?
This year we are going to focus on "diving in"-following Christ in a way that holds nothing back. With that in mind, during the first sermon series of the year, we are going to "dive in" to the storyline of Scripture; the series is entitled: "Finding Our Place in HIStory." In this series, we will discover that the Bible provides the "grand story" that makes sense of our personal stories. As we enter into the story of the Bible, God reveals himself to us and calls us to participate in his continuing activity. The biblical story, then, is foundational to Christian thinking and living. Going from Genesis to Revelation, we will see the unfolding plan and work of God and be challenged to make this story our story.
