Missions2004 Missions Conference Focuses on Cambodia
Do you not say "Four months more and then the harvest"? I tell you open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest.
John 4:35This year the Missions Conference will focus on the "harvest fields" in the country of Cambodia.
As you may recall, Salem missionaries Kevin and Robin Olson are presently in Cambodia. In May a group from the Salem and Bethel churches traveled there to meet with the Olson's, visit a number of people groups, and discern if the Lord would have Salem and Bethel "adopt" a people group. The Lord unanimously led the group to focus on the Brao, a group of "tribal people" in the northeast corner of Cambodia. Those attending the Missions Conference on the weekend of October 23 and 24 will learn about the Brao people and what it means to "adopt" a people group.
The featured speaker at the conference will be Jay Jackson. Jay and his family have spent many years in church planting ministry with the Ilongot tribal people in the Philippines. These people were head hunters, but today there are numerous churches among the Ilongot. More recently Jay has been a consultant for tribal church planters in Southeast Asia and in that capacity has traveled extensively in Cambodia. Jay will bring his considerable experience to explain the process of planting an indigenous church amongst the Brao.
The Missions Team is planning a Saturday evening banquet on October 23, and Jay will bring the main message on Sunday the 24th. See you there.
